MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It was with great sadness that members of this chamber learned of the death of Timothy M. Mieling; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Margaret Laurino; and
WHEREAS, Tim's death leaves us all with a profound sense of loss and tragedy, especially his loving wife, Kathleen, children Kate (John) Mayer and Tim (Lisa Rago) Mieling, and many devoted friends, family members and neighbors. Despite our sorrow, we continue to preserve and glorify Tim's life; and
WHEREAS, Born in Chicago to loving parents, the late Gregory W. and the late Veronica (nee Sullivan) Mieling, Tim Mieling was a proud veteran of the United States Navy; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Local #2 Fire Fighters Union and the North Side Fire Brigade, Tim Mieling was a City of Chicago Fire Fighter for thirty-seven years, retiring in 2005;and
WHEREAS, Tim Mieling will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twelfth day of December 2012, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Timothy M. Mieling and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Timothy M. Mieling with our sympathy and respect.
