RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Reverend Joseph Patrick Lynch will celebrate the Sixtieth Anniversary of his ordination to the holy priesthood with a Mass of Thanksgiving on May 19, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The eldest of seven children of Chicago Police Department Lieutenant James Lynch and his wife, Florence, the Reverend Joseph Patrick Lynch was raised in Little Flower Parish on the South Side; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Joseph Patrick Lynch attended St. Mary of the Lake Seminary and was ordained on May 1,1953; and
WHEREAS, A widely admired member of the religious community, the Reverend Joseph Patrick Lynch has been known throughout his ministry for both his kindness and expert people skills; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Joseph Patrick Lynch and has always enjoyed greeting and connecting with parishioners after celebrating Holy Mass; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Joseph Patrick Lynch was first assigned from 1953 to 1959 to St. Gabriel Parish in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, From 1959 to 1964, the Reverend Joseph Patrick Lynch served at St. Barbara Parish in Brookfield and from 1964 to 1969 at St. Albert the Great Parish in Burbank; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Joseph Patrick Lynch was assigned from 1969 to 1974 in the Brighton Park community and returned to St. Albert the Great Parish as Pastor from 1978 to 1984; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Joseph Patrick Lynch later ministered at St. Thomas More Parish and St. Christina Parish before retiring as Administrator of St. Walter Parish in 1995; and
WHEREAS, The holiness, sacrifice and faithfulness of the Reverend Joseph Patrick Lynch serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of May, 2013, do hereby congratulate the Reverend Joseph Patrick Lynch on the occasion of the Sixtieth Anniversary of his ordination; and
