RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Tom and Vita Donovan will receive the Heart of Mercy Award bestowed by Misericordia Women's Board at the Heart of Mercy ball on Friday, November 13, 2015; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Tom and Vita Donovan are generous benefactors of Misericordia Heart of Mercy and have always given from the heart to this remarkable organization; and

 

WHEREAS, In June of 2015, Misericordia opened the Thomas and Vita Donovan Dental Clinic which increased quality of life for its residents and consists of two part-time dentists from the Illinois Masonic Clinic, a full-time hygienist and full-time office staff; and

 

WHEREAS, Tom Donovan serves as the Chairman of Quantum Crossings, LLC and previously led the Chicago Board of Trade where he brought the world's largest exchange into the electronic age; and

 

WHEREAS, Before joining the Chicago Board of Trade, Tom Donovan served in Chicago city government, as administrative assistant to the late Mayor Richard J. Daley and continuing in that role through the late Mayor Michael A. Bilandic's administration; and

 

WHEREAS, Tom and Vita Donovan have consistently exemplified the highest ideals of good citizenship and civic service during their lifetimes; and

 

WHEREAS, Tom and Vita Donovan are individuals who are exc eedingly worthy of our great admiration and esteem; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-eighth day of October 2015, do hereby congratulate Tom and Vita Donovan on receiving this prestigious honor and do hereby applaud their many important contributions to Misericordia Heart of Mercy; and

 

 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Tom and Vita Donovan.
