RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, During the week of May 18, 2014, Trade Show Executive Magazine will sponsor the Third Annual Fastest 50 Awards & Summit at the Hyatt Regency Chicago; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The event honors the 50 fastest-growing shows in the nation in the categories of exhibit space, exhibitors and attendance; and
WHEREAS, A total of 150 awards will be bestowed on honorees at the Summit; and
WHEREAS, Trade Show Executive's Fastest 50 Awards' title sponsor is Choose Chicago led by CEO Don Welsh, and it is also endorsed by 25 companies, which are either based in the Greater Chicago Area or conduct business with trade shows in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, The trade show, meeting and convention industry is a $69 billion industry in the United States; and
WHEREAS, One of Chicago's largest trade shows, the RSNA, is one of the honorees that generates an economic impact of $130 million dollars into the local economy; and
WHEREAS, Highly influential executives in the trade show industry from around the country, and abroad will participate in the event to source new sites for their meetings, exhibits and other events; and
WHEREAS, Trade Show Executives Fastest 50 Awards & Summit will showcase Chicago and its vast event facilities, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment options; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this second day of April, 2014, do hereby welcome the guests and honorees of this prestigious event and do hereby officially declare that the week of May 18, 2014, shall be officially recognized as Trade Show Executives Fastest 50 Week throughout the City of Chicago; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Richard Simon, Chairman, and Darlene Gudea, President of the Trade Show Executive Media Group.
