RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, John D. Norcross has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong Chicagoan, John D. Norcross was the loving and devoted husband of Joanna; and
WHEREAS, John D. Norcross was the dear brother of Mary Jane, the late Peter and the late Richard; and
WHEREAS, John D. Norcross graduated from Loyola Academy, Stanford University and Northwestern University School of Law; and
WHEREAS, A widely admired civic leader, philanthropist, lawyer and investor, John D. Norcross enjoyed a highly successful and varied career; and
WHEREAS, John D. Norcross was a Founding Partner in the law firm of Crane and Norcross; and
WHEREAS, A skilled investor, John D. Norcross lived on the Gold Coast with his wife and co-founded the Gibsons Restaurant Group; and
WHEREAS, John D. Norcross took great interest in the original Gibsons Steakhouse located on Rush Street and Bellevue -Place which is now in its 25th year of operation; and
WHEREAS, John D. Norcross was also widely admired for his devotion to the Catholic Church and his generous support for the performing arts; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of John D. Norcross serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared John D. Norcross to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, John D. Norcross will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, John D. Norcross imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
