ORDINANCE

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:

 

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding anything in the Municipal Code ofthe City of Chicago to the contrary, no elected or appointed official shall be eligible for or receive any increase in salary or compensation during the 2023 fiscal year. The Comptroller is prohibited from making any payment in connection with any salary or compensation increase that is contrary to this ordinance.

 

SECTION 2. No member of the City Council or other municipal officer shall introduce, and no Committee of the City Council shall consider or recommend, any ordinance or order that is contrary in any way to any of the requirements of this ordinance. No member of the City Council shall propose, and no Committee of the City Council shall consider, any amendment to an ordinance which, if passed, would render the ordinance contrary to any of the requirements of this ordinance. No officer or employee of the City shall enforce any ordinance or order that is contrary to any of the requirements of this ordinance. No member of the City Council may recommend action on and no Committee of the City Council shall consider any ordinance or order that authorizes the increase of any salary or compensation of an elected or appointed official contrary to this ordinance.

 

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon passage and approval.
