RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Delia de Lafuente has gone to her eternal reward at the age of 51; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A native of Harlingen, Texas, Delia de Lafuente was a widely admired member of the journalism community; and

WHEREAS, Delia de Lafuente worked as a reporter at the Chicago Sun-Times, Crain's Communications, the Arizona Republic and the San Antonio Light; and

WHEREAS, Delia de Lafuente later became Senior Editor at Latina magazine, and Deputy Editor at Working Mother magazine before joining the staff of Adweek where she was Senior Editor of the Hispanic Marketing Report; and

WHEREAS, During her tenure at the Chicago Sun-Times, Delia de Lafuente investigated denial of medical coverage by insurance companies and patient dumping by hospitals; and ,

WHEREAS, Delia de Lafuente also contributed articles to the Associated Press and Businessweek; and

WHEREAS, In 1989 Delia de Lafuente was hired by the Adrenalina advertising agency which was later acquired by kbs+ where she was Director of Corporate Initiatives; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Delia de Lafuente serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Delia de Lafuente to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, Delia de Lafuente was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To her parents, Adolfo and Olga, and her two sisters, Edith and Veronica, Delia de Lafuente imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifteenth day of April, 2015, do hereby commemorate Delia de Lafuente for her grace-filled life and ...
