RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Doug Buffone has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 70; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Doug Buffone was a legendary linebacker for the Chicago Bears and the loving husband of Dana; and
WHEREAS, Doug Buffone was the much-adored father of Doug, Jr., Stephanie, Talleri, Ryan, Hailey and Heather and the grandfather of six to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Doug Buffone was the dear brother of Sam, Dennis, Joseph, Debbie, Donna Jeanne and Tina; and
WHEREAS, The son of a coal miner, Doug Buffone was raised in the tiny rural town of Yatesboro, Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Doug Buffone spent his entire 14-year career from 1966 to 1979 with the Chicago Bears; and
WHEREAS, Following his retirement from the game, Doug Buffone became a widely beloved ambassador for the team and a highly regarded sports radio personality; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his fame both on and off the field, Doug Buffone was a highly successful restaurant and bar owner and enjoyed a varied career as a business entrepreneur; and
WHEREAS, Doug Buffone constantly stayed in touch with his friends and former teammates and was considered an expert on the history of the Chicago Bears; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Doug Buffone serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Doug Buffone to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Doug Buffone was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Doug Buffone imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
