CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO GABRIELLA FINCH ON ACHIEVING THE
GIRL SCOUT GOLD A WARD
WHEREAS, Gabriella Finch, outstanding young citizen of Chicago's northwest side, has earned the highest award that a Girl Scout can earn, the Girl Scout Gold Award; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this great achievement by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Gabriella Finch, a member of Troop #20067, starting as a Girl Scout Brownie at Queen of All Saints School and is now in her ninth year as a member of Girl Scouts has applied her energies and her talents to upholding the great standards and traditions of scouting; and
WHEREAS, The earning of the prestigious Girl Scout Gold Award which Gabriella completed as a high school sophomore is the pinnacle of scouting and an honor earned through the first of its kind pet food pantry in the Chicago area entitled "Pet Pantry Pals". Gabriella devoted a minimum of 80 service hours in researching the topic, creating a project plan, imagining a budget, securing mentors, reaching out to area pet food stores, and working with local Girl Scout Troops, schools, and community organizations to collect items to distribute to Pet Pantry Pals; and
WHEREAS, Gabriella has dedicated herself to working on the success of the program for the next two years securing sponsorship as well as directorship of the program through the facilitator, Lakeview Food Pantry; and
WHEREAS, Gabriella embodies the Girl Scout ideals as expressed in the Girl Scout Promise and Law, she is friendly, helpful, considerate and caring, and she is making the world a better place; and
WHEREAS, Along with Gabriella's academic success she is also an accomplished musician, playing the violin and the viola with Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Amoroso Quartet; and
