RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Tyler R. Iubelt has gone to his eternal reward at the age of 20; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Tyler R. Iubelt lost his life while bravely serving his country in the global war against terrorism in Afghanistan; and
WHEREAS, Tyler R. Iubelt died of injuries sustained from an improvised explosive device at Bagram Airfield that claimed the lives of a fellow American soldier and two contractors; and
WHEREAS, Sixteen U.S. service members and a Polish soldier were also wounded in the explosion; and
WHEREAS, Raised in Tamaroa in downstate Illinois, Tyler R. Iubelt was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Special Troops Battalion, 1st Sustainment Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division based in Fort Hood, Texas; and
WHEREAS, The courage, sacrifice and dedication of Tyler R. Iubelt serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Tyler R. Iubelt to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Tyler R. Iubelt imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixteenth day of November, 2016, do hereby commemorate Tyler R. Iubelt for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
