CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO LI AM HAMP ON EARNING THE RANK OF EAGLE
SCOUT


WHEREAS, Life Scout Liam Hamp of Queen of All Saints Basilica's Boy Scout Troop 626 has passed his Eagle Scout Board of Review earning him the rank of Eagle Scout, scouting's highest achievement; and

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of this special occasion by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Liam's Eagle Scout Service Project was the beautification and restoration of the area surrounding the Chicago Fire Department Memorial at Rosehill Cemetery. The project involved the uprooting of plants, arranging and replanting those plants, planting new plants, removing the old fire hose that encircles the Chicago Fire Department Memorial and replacing it with a new one; and

WHEREAS, Eagle Scout, the pinnacle of scouting, earned through commitment and dedication, exemplifies a model citizen. A Scout must earn twenty-one merit badges in addition to completing several community projects and only two percent of boys enrolled in the scouting program earn the rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, Many Eagle Scouts have become great leaders in diverse endeavors such as Astronaut Neil Armstrong, former United States President Gerald R. Ford, former United States Senator William Bradley, former major league baseball player Albert Belle and Chief Executive Officer of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates, Sr.; and,

WHEREAS, Liam completed all the requirements and has been examined by an Eagle Scout Board of Review, certifying his worthiness for Scouting's highest distinction. He embodies the scout spirit through demonstrations of leadership and service and he deserves to be recognized for his unwavering commitment to his community; now, therefore

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this seventeenth day of June, 2015 do hereby extend our heartiest congratulations to Liam Hamp on at...
