RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Esther Golar has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 71; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Esther Golar was a Chicago Democrat who ably served as an Illinois State Representative from the 6th District for nearly a decade; and
WHEREAS, An Englewood community organizer, the Honorable Esther Golar worked as a civilian employee with the Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy program prior to serving in the legislature; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Esther Golar was appointed in 1995 to fill a vacancy; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Esther Golar served as a member of nine legislative committees where she never lost sight of struggling families and was a champion for schools, public safety and health care; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Esther Golar once made her position known on an issue by singing on the House floor; and
WHEREAS, Governor Bruce Rauner hailed the Honorable Esther Golar "as a pillar of strength" in her community; and
WHEREAS, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle said the Honorable Esther Golar will be remembered by her constituents as "a believer in the strength of neighborhoods"; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Esther Golar serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Esther Golar to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Esther Golar was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, the Honorable Esther Golar imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
