RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Terrence M. Murphy will celebrate 30 years as Executive Director of the Chicago Bar Association at the organization's annual meeting on June 25, 2015; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Terrence M. Murphy graduated from Loyola University with a degree in history and began his career with the Chicago Bar Association in 1971; and

WHEREAS, Terrence M. Murphy worked in a series of management positions before being appointed by the Board on May 23, 1985 to serve as Executive Director and for the past three decades has overseen the growth and vitality of the 22,000-member organization; and

WHEREAS, Terrence M. Murphy has held a number of positions outside of the Association, including: Local Bar Delegate; Vice-President and President of the National Association of Bar Executives; founder of the NABE's Minority Committee; Reporting Secretary for the Metropolitan Bar Caucus; member of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Workforce Board; Chair of the Training Subcommittee for the Circuit Court of Cook County's Special Committee on Domestic Violence; and member of the Elmhurst Art Museum's Ethics Committee; and

WHEREAS, Terrence M. Murphy currently serves as Treasurer and is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession, as Vice-President of CBA Administrators, Inc., and as Director of the CBA Condominium Board; and

WHEREAS, In recognition of Terrence M. Murphy's outstanding legacy of achievement and contributions to the Chicago Bar Association, the lobby at CBA headquarters will be named in his honor; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Terrence M. Murphy serve as an example to all; now, therefore
