RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Robert Owen Rice has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Robert Owen Rice was a military veteran and a retired member of the Chicago Police Department; and

WHEREAS, Robert Owen Rice was the much-adored father of Sean and the late Shannon and the grandfather of three; and

WHEREAS, Robert Owen Rice rose to become a Detective; and

WHEREAS, During his long and distinguished service with the City of Chicago, Robert Owen Rice upheld the finest and most noble traditions of the law enforcement community; and

WHEREAS, Robert Owen Rice was an Army Ranger with the 101^st Airborne Division; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Robert Owen Rice serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Robert Owen Rice to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Robert Owen Rice imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twelfth day of December, 2012, do hereby commemorate Robert Owen Rice for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
