RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, The Reverend Paul B. Marszalek has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-seven; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend Paul B. Marszalek was a widely admired member of the religious community and the Pastor Emeritus of St. Jane de Chantal Parish on the Southwest Side; and

WHEREAS, A cleric who was extremely proud of his Polish heritage and known for his humor and personality, the Reverend Paul B. Marszalek was raised in Five Holy Martyrs Parish; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend Paul B. Marszalek was the beloved son of the late Paul and Hattie, nee Keller, and the dear brother of the late Norbert; and

WHEREAS, Samuel Cardinal Stritch, Archbishop of Chicago, ordained the Reverend Paul B. Marszalek on May 1, 1952; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend Paul B. Marszalek was first assigned to Transfiguration Church until he became Assistant Pastor of Assumption B.V.M. Parish; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend Paul B. Marszalek taught religion, Latin and Polish at Quigley South Seminary where he was a trusted mentor to many; and

WHEREAS, While serving for seventeen years as an instructor at Quigley South Seminary, the Reverend Paul B. Marszalek was a Resident at; Immaculate Conception Parish and Saints Cyril and Methodius Parish; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend Paul B. Marszalek was the Pastor of St. Jane de Chantal Parish from 1978 until his retirement in 1998, when he became Pastor Emeritus; and

WHEREAS, The holiness, sacrifice and dedication of the Reverend Paul B. Marszalek serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend Paul B. Marszalek will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Reverend Paul B. Marszalek imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
