RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, C. Paul Johnson has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 83; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, C. Paul Johnson was a widely admired member of the financial community and the loving husband of Debra; and
WHEREAS, C. Paul Johnson was the much-adored father of Chauncey, Jonathan, Deborah, Julianne and Becky, the grandfather of six and the great-grandfather of three to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, An unofficial voice of Chicago's business community, C. Paul Johnson was known for his wide-ranging business success and entrepreneurial spirit; and
WHEREAS, C. Paul Johnson served as the President of Growth Capital, a holding company; and
WHEREAS, During the 1970s, C. Paul Johnson purchased a Chicago bank and through a series of acquisitions expanded it into a group of 17 banks with 36 locations; and
WHEREAS, Widely respected for his civic contributions, C. Paul Johnson served as a life trustee of the Adler Planetarium and was a member of the boards of Roosevelt University, the Chicago Academy of Sciences, Howe Military Academy, the American Field Service and Stetson University; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of C. Paul Johnson serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared C. Paul Johnson to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, C. Paul Johnson was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, C. Paul Johnson imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled...
