RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Wladyslaw Bartoszewski has been called to 1 eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 93; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Wladyslaw Bartoszewski was a widely admired Polish official and the loving husband of Zofia; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Wladyslaw Bartoszewski was the much-adored father of Wladyslaw T. to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Wladyslaw Bartoszewski bravely fought as a member of the Polish resistance during World War II and was imprisoned at the Auschwitz concentration camp; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Wladyslaw Bartoszewski was eventually released from Auschwitz after intervention by the Red Cross and returned to Poland's underground army that fought to save the Jews; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Wladyslaw Bartoszewski participated in the 1944 Warsaw Uprising and after the war became an activist, politician and historian; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Wladyslaw Bartoszewski served twice as Minister of Foreign Affairs for Poland and was a former member of the Senate and Ambassador to Austria; and
WHEREAS, The bravery, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Wladyslaw Bartoszewski serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Wladyslaw Bartoszewski was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Wladyslaw Bartoszewski imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixth day of May, 2015, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Wladyslaw Bartoszewski for his grace-filled life1 and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
