RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Jack M. Siegel has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 88; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Wilmette, Jack M. Siegel was a widely admired member of the legal community and the loving husband of Jeanne; and
WHEREAS, Jack M. Siegel was the much-adored father of Julie and Philip, the dear brother of Shirley, and the grandfather of three to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A native of Chicago's South Shore neighborhood, Jack M. Siegel enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and served stateside in an officer training program; and
WHEREAS, Jack M. Siegel earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, An expert in municipal law, Jack M. Siegel served for more than 50 years as the village attorney of both Schaumburg and Arlington Heights; and
WHEREAS, Jack M. Siegel was corporation counsel for the City of Evanston for 47 years; and
WHEREAS, Although a soft-spoken and gentle man, Jack M. Siegel was a passionate advocate once he entered the doors of a courtroom; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Jack M. Siegel serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Jack M. Siegel will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Jack M. Siegel imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of October, 2014, do hereby commemorate Jack M. Siegel for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jack M. Siegel.
