RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, The Reverend John H. Boyle has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 87; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend John H. Boyle was the loving and devoted husband of Kathye; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend John H. Boyle was the much-adored father of John and Kathy and beloved grandfather of Hunter to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, A proud U.S. Army veteran of World War II, the Reverend John H. Boyle participated in the liberation of the infamous German concentration camp Dachau; and

WHEREAS, The atrocities he witnessed during the war prompted the Reverend John H. Boyle to dedicate his life to countering moral injustice by serving as a Christian minister; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend John H. Boyle received a bachelor of divinity degree from Central Baptist Theological Seminary and taught at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where he received a master's and doctorate in theology; and

WHEREAS, In 1976, the Reverend John H. Boyle became the founding director of the Lorene Replogle Counseling Center and an associate pastor at the historic Fourth Presbyterian Church; and

WHEREAS, A cherished mentor and gifted teacher who deeply inspired those under his direction with his gentle wisdom and vast experience, the Reverend John H. Boyle created a lasting legacy of faith and love that continues to bear fruit; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Reverend John H. Boyle serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Reverend John H. Boyle to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Reverend John H. Boyle imparts his spirit of service, dignity and Christian witness; now, therefo...
