WHEREAS, God in His infinite wisdom has called Iwan Pirko to his eternal reward; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Marty Quinn, Alderman of the 13th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Iwan Pirko was a loving father of three children, Demetrius, Luba and Michael. He was also a grandfather of two, Sierra and Christina. A loving husband of 70 years to Anna who passed away in 2014; and
WHERAS, Iwan was a man who came into this country not speaking English. Not only survived but made a good life for his family. He worked in the steel factories for most of his life. He was involved with his Ukrainian Community. Iwan and Anna always provided for their family and did without so that their children could have a better life than they did. The last years of his life were a struggle with dementia and the loss of his wife; and
WHEREAS, The world lost a great man and Demetrius, Luba and Michael lost a fantastic father. He was a tough man to his very last breath. Iwan Pirko leaves a legacy of faith, dignity, compassion and love; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the Chicago City Council gathered here this nineteenth day of February, 2020, hereby express our sorrow on the death of Iwan Pirko and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy.
