RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Roland Eisenbeis has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 99; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Roland Eisenbeis was the loving and devoted husband of Betty; and

 

WHEREAS, Roland Eisenbeis was the much-adored father of four children, the grandfather of eight and the great-grandfather of three to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, A native of Ashley, North Dakota, Roland Eisenbeis attended forestry school before he moved to Illinois where he met his future wife while working in a greenhouse and flower shop in Elgin; and

 

WHEREAS, During World War II, Roland Eisenbeis served his country in the Pacific Theatre of Operations; and

 

WHEREAS, From 1952 to 1984, Roland Eisenbeis worked as the Superintendent of Conservation for the Cook County Forest Preserve District; and

 

WHEREAS, Roland Eisenbeis' more than three decades long career with the Forest Preserve began with land acquisition and preservation efforts before it evolved into active land management; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Roland Eisenbeis serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Roland Eisenbeis to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Roland Eisenbeis imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-eighth day of June, 2017, do hereby commemorate Roland Eisenbeis for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Roland Eisenbeis.
