BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO;

SECTION 1. Pursuant to an ordinance heretofore passed by the City Council which allows erection of honorary street-name signs, the Commissioner of Transportation shall take the necessary action for standardization of West Fillmore Street, from South Central Park Avenue to South Homan Avenue as "Reverend J.E. Storey Way."
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publication.

To Whom It May Concern:
As full-fledged, dedicated members of Sunrise Baptist Church, we are requesting an honorary street sign in honor and dedication to our Pastor, J.E. Storey. He truly has a story to tell and has become a great pillar in the Community since 1990.
Our Church is located on the comer of Central Park along the side street of Fillmore. We originated from 1701 W. Roosevelt Street However, evolving from Pastor J.E. Storey's vision, a new church was built at 1101 S. Central Park in March 1999. At the inception of building this church, the neighborhood and the comers were highly infested with drugs. However, Pastor J.E. Storey remained steadfast in his preaching, teaching and canvassing this neighborhood compelling the lost to come to Christ. And as a result of that many people throughout the neighborhood joined and became outstanding members in the church. The flock is still growing by leaps and bounds due to his community outreach.
Every year Sunrise Baptist Church hosts food drives, clothes giveaways, outdoor prayers for the street comers, outreach ministry and picnics located right on our property. Also, he opens up the community center to feed children and homeless people lunches at various times during the summer. Presently, he has allowed UCAN Organization to use the community center...
