At the request ofthe Commissioner of Public Health, I transmit herewith, together with City Clerk Mendoza and Aldermen Graham, Cappleman, Burnett, Quinn, Beale, Zalewski, Thomas, O'Shea and Harris, an ordinance amending Chapter 2-112 of the Municipal Code regarding dental care.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
 
 
SECTION 1. Section 2-112-230 ofthe Municipal Code of Chicago is hereby amended by deleting the language stricken through and by inserting the language underscored, as follows:
 
2-112-230 Health-related agreements with the Chicago Board of Education and other City of Chicago schools.
The commissioner of health is authorized to negotiate and execute, with the Chicago Board of Education, intergovernmental agreements for the promotion and/or protection of public healthlT-and The commissioner of health is also authorized to negotiate and execute, with the board of directors or governing body ofany entity managing, controlling or operating any secular or non-secular elementary, middle or secondary school within the City, agreements for the provision, by or through the department of health, of dental services to students at such schools. The commissioner is authorized to perform any and all acts, including the expenditure of funds subject to appropriation therefor, as shall be necessary or advisable in connection with the implementation of such agreements, including any renewals thereto, and including provisions providing indemnification.
 
 
 
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take full force and effect upon its passage and approval.
