ORDINANCE

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:

SECTION 1.Chapter 2-84, Department of Police, of the Municipal Code of Chicago is hereby amended by inserting the language underscored as new Section 2-84-395:

2-84-395 Tasers.

The department must train every sworn officer in the use of a Taser. The department must supply a Taser to all trained officers which will become part of their uniform. Any officer who loses or intentionally destroys their Taser will be required to pay the cost of replacing it. Whenever any officer leaves the department, he must immediately deliver his Taser to the department.

SECTION 2. This ordinance is effective onJanuary 1, 2017.
