RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Vince Gavin has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 74; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Vince Gavin was a widely respected member of the law enforcement community and the loving and devoted husband of Eileen, nee Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Vince Gavin was the much-adored father of Mary Eileen, Vince, John and Paul and the grandfather of six to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, Vince Gavin was the dear brother of Ed, Peggy, Joe and Cathy; and

 

WHEREAS, Vince Gavin ably served as a member of the Chicago Police Department and retired as a Sergeant; and

 

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Vince Gavin upheld the finest and most noble traditions of public service; and

 

WHEREAS, When Vince Gavin left the Chicago Police Department he went on to enjoy a very successful career in business with Arthur Rubloff 85 Company and later was head of security at Navy Pier; and

 

WHEREAS, Vince Gavin served as a member of the Board Directors of the Hundred Club of Chicago and Cook County; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Vince Gavin serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Vince Gavin to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Vince Gavin imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixteenth day of November, 2016, do hereby commemorate Vince Gavin for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Vince Gavin.
