WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the death of Thomas G. Carey on December 28, 2016 at the age of sixty-two; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Thomas was the beloved son of the late Edward P. and Mary F. nee Higgins; Loving brother of Edward (late Jean) Carey, Mairsey (Jeremiah) Joyce, Eileen Carey, Margaret Carey, Patricia (William) Dunne, James (Laura) Carey, Kathleen Carey, and Michael (Monica) Carey; cherished uncle to Annie (Seamus) Cribbin, Colleen Carey, Edward (Jean) Carey , John Carey, Jeannie (Dan) Wolf, Daniel (Janice) Joyce, Michael (Jamilliah) Joyce, Jerry (Jannine) Joyce, Kevin (Krista) Joyce, Mary Laura Carey, Peggy (Chris) Ryan-Spencer, David Ryan, James (Loris) Ryan, William (Katie) Dunne, Patrick (Mandy) Dunne, Shannon (Patrick) Harvey, Colleen Dunne, Sean Carey, Kevin Carey, Michael (Kacey) Carey and Faith Carey; blessed great uncle of many nieces and nephew and treasured friend to many; Thomas leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, and dignity; and
WHEREAS, Thomas touched the lives of all who knew him through his unconditional love, lessons and vivacious spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this Twenty-fifth of January, 2017, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Thomas G. Carev; and
