RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Bernard "Bernie" Domagala has gone to his eternal reward at the age of 66; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Bernard "Bernie" Domagala was the loving and devoted husband of Denise; and
WHEREAS, Bernard "Bernie" Domagala was the much-adored father of Erik, Craig and Adam to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Bernard "Bernie" Domagala was the dear brother of Karen and Roger; and
WHEREAS, Bernard "Bernie" Domagala was a Chicago police officer and a true hero; and
WHEREAS, Bernard "Bernie" Domagala passed away from complications caused by gunshot wound that he received on July 14, 1988 while responding with fellow officers to a barricade situation at a South Side home; and
WHEREAS, Bernard "Bernie" Domagala was 37 years old when shot in the head resulting in lasting brain injuries; and
WHEREAS, The bravery and dedication of Bernard "Bernie" Domagala serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Bernard "Bernie" Domagala imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eleventh day of October, 2017, do hereby commemorate Bernard "Bernie" Domagala for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
