RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, Mitchell Flint has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 94; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Mitchell Flint was the loving an devoted husband of Joyce; and

WHEREAS, Mitchell Flint was the much-adored father of Michael and Guy to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

V.

WHEREAS, Mitchell Flint was a former United States Navy fighter pilot who helped organize the Israeli Air Force in 1948; and

WHEREAS, Mitchell Flint was a founding member of "Machal," a group of non-Israelis who fought in the Arab-Israeli War; and

WHEREAS, Mitchell Flint piloted Mustangs and Spitfires as well as rebuilt World War II German Messerschmitts which had their Nazi insignias covered over with Stars of David; and

WHEREAS, Following his service in Israel, Mitchell Flint returned to the United States where he settled in Los Angeles and worked as a lawyer; and

WHEREAS, The bravery, sacrifice and dedication of Mitchell Flint serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Mitchell Flint to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Mitchell Flint imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eleventh day of October, 2017, do hereby commemorate Mitchell Flint for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mitchell Flint.
