RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Gerald "Jerry" O'Sullivan has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Gerald "Jerry" O'Sullivan was a widely admired member of the law enforcement community and the loving husband for 48 years of Sheila, nee Scott; and

WHEREAS, Gerald "Jerry" O'Sullivan was the much-adored father of Margaret, Lucy, Kathleen, Patricia, Gerald and Julie and the grandfather of nine to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Gerald "Jerry" O'Sullivan was the dear brother of Catherine, Thomas Jr. and the late Lucy; and

WHEREAS, Gerald "Jerry" O'Sullivan enjoyed a long and highly successful career with the Chicago Police Department and retired as a Captain; and

WHEREAS, An avid runner, Gerald "Jerry" O'Sullivan competed five times in the Chicago Marathon and was the Founder of the O'Sullivan Running Association; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Gerald "Jerry" O'Sullivan serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Gerald "Jerry" O'Sullivan to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Gerald "Jerry" O'Sullivan imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of November, 2017, do hereby commemorate Gerald "Jerry" O'Sullivan for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gerald "Jerry" O'Sullivan.
