RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Frank Lavin has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 91; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Elmhurst, Dr. Frank Lavin was a widely admired member of the medical community and the loving husband of Mary Ellen; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Frank Lavin was the much-adored father of Francis, Michael, Mary Alice, John, Daniel and Timothy, the grandfather of ten and the great grandfather of one to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, A native of Chicago's West Side, Dr. Frank Lavin served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Navy and earned both his bachelor and medical degrees from Loyola University Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Frank Lavin was a partner in a practice in Bensenville before opening his own family practice in Elmhurst in the 1960s; and

WHEREAS, During that time, Dr. Frank Lavin served as the Chairman of the Elmhurst Polio Committee which led local efforts to administer the polio vaccine in the Chicago area; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Frank Lavin was an attending physician at Elmhurst Hospital where he enjoyed a reputation for thoroughness and competency and was beloved by generations of patients; and

WHEREAS, Following a long and highly distinguished career, Dr. Frank Lavin retired when he was in his seventies; and

WHEREAS, During his retirement, Dr. Frank Lavin volunteered for more than a decade at the food pantry at the People's Resource Center in Wheaton; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Dr. Frank Lavin serve as an example to all; and

 

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Dr. Frank Lavin to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Dr. Frank Lavin imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of November, 2017, do hereby commemorate Dr. Frank Lavin for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Frank Lavin.
