RESOLUTION
To Call a Hearing to Expand Gender-Based Violence Prevention Programs

WHEREAS, the City of Chicago ("the City") is a home rule governing body according to Article VII ofthe State of Illinois Constitution, and may exercise the power to regulate for the protection ofthe public health, safety, morals and welfare (Article VII, Section 6(a); and,

WHEREAS, by effectively regulating the public health, the City may increase the safety of its residents; and,

WHEREAS, expanding public health services related to domestic violence, gender-based violence, and related forms of violence will increase the safety of Chicago residents; and,

WHEREAS, in June 2020, The Network: Advocating Against Domestic Violence ("The Network") outlined a proposal to increase gender-based violence prevention services offered by the City; and,
