CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO ERIC L. JOHNSON ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, On September 1, 2020, Detention Aide Eric L. Johnson retired from the Chicago Police Department following 28 years of dedicated public service; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable Derrick G. Curtis, Alderman ofthe 18th Ward and former Chairman ofthe Chicago Police Memorial Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Eric Johnson began his illustrious career with the Chicago Police Department on May 1, 1992, and retired as a valued member ofthe 6th District; his presence will be sorely missed; and
WHEREAS, Dedication to and fulfillment ofthe motto ofthe Chicago Police Department -"We Serve and Protect" - exacts a substantial physical and emotional toll not only on the officers who must daily cope with the stress and danger of putting their lives on the line for countless City residents, but also on their family members; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his long and distinguished tenure, Eric Johnson upheld the finest traditions ofthe law enforcement community, and his hard work, commitment, and dedication to duty earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the communities he protected; and
WHEREAS, Eric Johnson devoted 28 years of his life to public service to the people ofthe City of Chicago, and, in doing so, has personally ensured that the City of Chicago is the safe, healthy, and vibrant community it is today; and
WHEREAS, The leaders ofthe City of Chicago want to recognize the great debt owed to our public servants, and extend our sincerest gratitude to the long and prolific career of Officer Newell; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twenty-third day of November, 2020, do hereby express our gratitude for 28 years of work in service to the people of the City of Chicago, and express our heartiest wishes on a pleasant retirement to...
