RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Father Daniel "Dan" Brandt is being recognized for his heroic actions by risking his own safety in removing and assisting an injured driver from his vehicle in a rollover accident on the Kennedy Expressway on February 17, 2022; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been, informed o f his actions by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and.
WHEREAS,father Dan was born in Norwood Park, Illinois then moved to Park Ridge, Illinois where he attended Main South High School. He graduated from Northern Illinois in DeKalb with a Degree in Business; and
WHEREAS, Father Dan worked for a few years in a CPA firm before joining the Catholic Seminary, University of St. Mary of the Lake in 1995, and was ordained in 1999; and
WHEREAS,.After his Ordination, his first assignment was at St. William Parish. While serving the parish, he began working with the Chicago Police Department's Chaplain Unit; and
WHEREAS, Father Dan became Pastor of Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Bridgeport, before replacing Father Nangle in 2011 as the full-time Director of CPD's Chaplain's Unit and currently resides at a parish in Logan Square; and
WHEREAS, Father Dan should be recognized and honored for his heroic actions that he took on February 17, 2022 by assisting a person in a.rollover accident; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members-of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-third day of March, 2022, do hereby congratulate Father Dan Brandt for his service, dedication, and bravery as Chaplain of tlie Chicago Police Department; and
Alderman, 14th Ward
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy ofthis resolution be presented to Father Dan Brandt.
