ORDINANCE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
SECTION 1. Chapter 2-84 of the Municipal Code of Chicago is hereby amended by adding a new Section 2-84-520, as follows:
2-84-520 Training - Reimbursement.
Any police officer who completes basic recruit training paid for or provided by the Department of Police and who leaves the Department for another police department within 5 years of graduating the Department's Recruit Academy must reimburse the City for the costs of their training.
SECTION 2. The Superintendent of Police shall create a process to allow for the Department of Police to accept transfers of police officers who have been trained by another jurisdiction. The transfer officer may be allowed to complete a modified training program.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect 10 days after passage and publication.
