RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Terrence Knox has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of sixty-three; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Terrence Knox served on the Chicago Police Department during the 1960s and 1970s and was wounded in the line of duty; and
WHEREAS, The man who shot Terrence Knox avoided justice for more than thirty years before being apprehended in Canada in 2004; and
WHEREAS, When his assailant was finally caught, Terrence Knox helped to arrange an agreement which required the accused to donate a substantial sum of money to the Chicago Police Memorial Fund; and
WHEREAS, After being wounded, Terrence Knox became an outspoken advocate for crime victims and injured police officers; and
WHEREAS, After retiring from the police force in 1977, Terrence Knox went on to a successful career as an executive with AT&T; and
WHEREAS, Terrence Knox will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends, and colleagues; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Terrence Knox imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighteenth day of May, 2011, do hereby commemorate Terrence Knox for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Terrence Knco
