1 transmit herewith, together with Alderman Reboyras, Laurino, O'Shea, Quinn, Maldonado, Pawar and Thompson, a congratulatory resolution concerning the Chicago Fire Department.

^OllBTBdS • ,n tne ear'y afternoon of May 30, 2017, it he Chicago Fire Department's Ambulance 43 and Engine Company 22 were dispatched to the scene of a multiple vehicle crash at the intersection of Clark Street and Wisconsin Street, on the City's North Side; and
WHEREAS, Upon hearing the radio transmission requesting emergency medical assistance nearby. Bike Team 1 of the North Avenue Beach EMS Patrol, along with Med Cart 1, also responded to help in any way possible; and
WHEREAS, Arriving first on the scene, Engine Company 22 found a severely injured man, whose motorcycle apparently had been hit by a car, bleeding profusely from his leg, which was severed below the knee; and
WHEREAS, Wasting no time, and following medical protocol to the letter, the' responding firefighters applied a Combat Application Tourniquet to the man's leg to stanch the bleeding, deftly assisting the man, whose life was imperiled by his grievous wound; and
WHEREAS, Meanwhile, paramedics from Ambulance 43, Bike Team 1 and Med Cart 1 arrived and began administering additional life-saving measures in a valiant effort to save the man's life; and
WHEREAS, Working seamlessly together, responding firefighters and paramedics administered Advanced Life Support care to the victim of this tragic accident, while preparing him for transport as a trauma patient to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The members of Bike Team 1 and Med Cart 1 followed Ambulance 43 to the hospital with the injured man's personal belongings; and
WHEREAS, The coordinated effort by Engine Company 22, Ambulance 43, Bike Team T and Med Cart 1 to provide a critically injured patient with the best possible opportunity for survival is a textbook example of the type of teamwork that is needed to save a life under particularly intense and difficult circumstances; and
WHEREAS, The City of Chicago owes an enormous debt of gratitude to Lieutenant Hector Rivera, Engineer Philip Holzman and Firefighters Scott Malito, Laura Alonso and Eric Johnson of Engine Company 22, and to Paramedic In Charge Dawn Wahlgren and Paramedic Salvatore Dinolfo of Ambulance 43, and to Paramedic In Charge Vincent Zittnan and Paramedic Nicholas O'Connor of Bike Team 1, and to Paramedic In Charge Christopher Sergei and Paramedic Joseph Peters of Med Cart 1, for their successful joint effort to aid the victim of a terrible motorcycle accident; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor, and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this twenty-eighth day of June, 2017, do hereby applaud the above-named members of Engine Company 22, Ambulance 43, Bike Team 1 and Med Cart 1, who, in keeping with the highest traditions of the Chicago Fire Department, performed their life-saving intervention flawlessly and with dedication, professionalism and skill; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this, resolution be presented to each of the above-named members of Engine Company 22, Ambulance 43, Bike Team 1 and Med Cart 1, and placed on permanent record in their personnel files, as a-token of our.appreciation and esteem.
