ORDINANCE

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:

SECTION 1. Chapter 11-12 ofthe Municipal Code of Chicago is hereby amended by adding a new section 11-12-020, as follows:

11-12-020 Repaying of streets. Reserved.
When any project administered or performed by the department includes the digging or opening up of a street for the extension, installation, repair or relocation of water pipes as part of that project, the entire street from curb to curb and intersection to intersection shall be repaved.
Every contract, purchase order or other agreement award or let by the city that includes the digging ^ or opening up of a street for the extension, installation, repair or relocation of water pipes as part of the project, ,\>o shall include a provision that the scope ofthe project includes the repaving ofthe entire street from curb to curb and intersection to intersection. ^
For purposes of this section, the following definitions apply: Ujl ^
SECTION 2. This ordinance takes effect upon passage and publicati

"Intersection" has the meaning ascribed to that term in section 9-4-010; and
"Street" means the entire width between the boundary lines of every way publicly maintained when any part thereof is open to the use of the public for purposes of vehicular traffic.
